They Tried to Erase Us. They Failed.
The history books didn’t forget us by accident.
For decades, Mexican Americans built this country, it’s railroads, its farms, its music, its culture, and somehow ended up as a footnote.
Not a chapter. A footnote.
They told us our stories weren’t important enough. That our heroes weren’t famous enough. That our language was something to be ashamed of.

But here’s what they didn’t count on: we remember everything.
We remember that before rock and roll had a name, Mexican Americans were playing it. We remember that before Hollywood had an action hero, a Brown man from East L.A. was throwing touchdowns. We remember the musicians, the activists, the fighters, the mothers who marched, all the people who were too powerful to be included in someone else’s version of history.
That’s why NELA TV exists.
Not to ask for a seat at the table. To build a bigger one.

Every story we tell is a reclamation. Every documentary, every article, every mix, it’s a middle finger to erasure and a love letter to our gente.
You were never the footnote. You were always the chapter.
And we’re just getting started.
