U.S. Mexicans Deported in Repatriation Program – 1931
In 1931, La Placita Park in Los Angeles was the site of a devastating raid. Immigration agents stormed the park, rounding up and deporting people simply because of their Mexican heritage. Many were U.S. citizens, yet they were swept away in a wave of fear and injustice.
During the Great Depression, over 1.8 million Mexicans and Mexican Americans were forcibly removed from the U.S. in what’s known as the Mexican Repatriation. Families were torn apart, communities shattered, and fear spread throughout the nation.
We must remember this dark chapter and honor the resilience of those who suffered. 💔
Let’s not forget the lessons of history and continue the fight for justice and equality.
