LA’s Mexican GANG Neighborhoods With A Real OG
Los Angeles is home to hundreds of street gangs, including some of the most dangerous Latino gangs in the country. “Negra” was a part of one of these gangs in the 1990’s, at the height of the crack boom in an infamous neighborhood known as “The Avenues” in Northeast Los Angeles. By the time she was 13 she was skipping school to use drugs, including crack, and became a full on meth addict by the time she was 16. To support her habit and her newborn baby, she began selling crack right down the street from her childhood home. In that era, it was not uncommon for every house on her street to be a crack house. In 2008, she was part of the biggest gang indictment in LA history, where the FBI and DEA arrested over 200 hundred people from her neighborhood. She was arrested and sentenced to 8 years in prison. While inside, she got sober and now runs a thriving nail business as well as a podcast called @IndictedTV
